Only the wide-angle lens of the Oppo Find X3 Lite can convince us with a good performance. Used as a normal focal length, it is acceptable in bright light, but otherwise not recommendable. The ultra-wide-angle is of little practical use. One drawback of the "Lite" is a much too harsh image tuning - for both cameras.

 

Wide angle (main camera) – 1.7/4.73 mm lens

(35mm equivalent: 26 mm), 64 MP sensor, JPEG with 16 or 64 MP

The main camera can shoot at both the reduced 16 MP and the full 64 MP resolution. Across the light levels, the lower resolution images win, so our score is based on the 16MP JPEGs. But in high light, the 64MP images are fundamentally more detailed and slightly less harshly tuned. Admittedly, these do not come close to the quality of Samsung S21/S21 +, which also deliver 64MP JPEGs. The noise reduction is also visible in the form of artifacts in both 16 MP and 64 MP pictures in high light - most rivals manage this better.
With fading light (200 lux), the 16MP JPEGs are the better choice. The detail level decreases relatively little compared to 5000 lux images (16 MP) - low-contrast structures are more affected by negative developments. The aggressive signal tuning remains.  At night, the increasing noise reduction leads to "area formation", the edges are partly very unsightly.
Overall, the wide-angle camera delivers good quality, the less skillful signal processing is its consistent weakness.

 

Normal focal length – 1.7/4.73 mm lens 

(35mm equivalent: 52 mm), 64 MP sensor, JPEG with 16 MP OR 64 MP

On the Find X3 Lite, you zoom in with the main lens for lack of cameras with longer focal lengths. So, the wide-angle is also responsible for 2x zooms and also offers a choice between 16MP and 64 MP. 16 MP images are easily delivered by the 64 MP sensor with a crop corresponding to a 2x zoom. To extrapolate this to 64 MP again does not sound very sensible. A look at the pictures then confirms this with a clear lead of the 16MP JPEGs.
Compared to the wide-angle images, the "normal" JPEGs show a lower level of detail. In high light, the drop in fine detail is still acceptable. Unfortunately, the hard signal tuning remains and additionally reduces the image impression. In less light (200 lux), we recommend switching to the module's full angle of view: JPEGs shot with simulated normal focal length are then too smooth. The noise reduction ruins too many fine details. The tendency continues to intensify in night shots. 

 

Super wide angle – 2.2/1.7 mm lens

(35mm equivalent: 13 mm), 8 MP sensor, JPEG with 8 MP

The 8MP sensor doesn't provide enough raw data to get good images, at least in high light. Moire and other artifacts are already visible under good lighting conditions. Edges are almost ruthlessly resharpened with very unsightly side effects. At the same time, the aggressive measures cannot conceal the low resolution. With decreasing light (200 lux), the detail drawing decreases - already here, fine, low-contrast structures are partly completely lost. At night (5 Lux ), the camera performance collapses completely.
